PAVING SERVICES / REPAIRS

Paving repairs & relaying
in Cape Town.

A sunken or uneven surface needs the cause checked before pavers are lifted and relaid. Localised repair may be appropriate.

Plan for the way
the surface is used.

Settlement, rocking units, open joints and standing water can have different causes. Identify the cause before deciding how much paving to lift.

A repair scope should state which pavers can be reused, what base work is included and how the repaired area will blend with the existing surface.

PLANNING THE PROJECT

Find the cause before relaying

A sunken patch, rocking pavers, open joints or standing water can point to different problems. Photograph the affected area after rain and note whether vehicles use it. Ask what needs to be opened to inspect the support beneath the surface.

A useful repair quote separates lifting and reuse of sound units from base, drainage and edge work. It should say how replacements will be matched and how the new level will meet the undisturbed paving. A surface-only relay may leave the cause in place.

Questions for a site assessment

  • What is believed to have caused the movement?
  • Which pavers can be reused and what is below them?
  • How will the repair blend and where will water go?
